The birth of One Tree Rule

Hi, I’m Nasreen. I’m your average 14 year old, who wants to improve the world around her. Yes, contrary to what most may think, we Z’ers actually do care about the world and those who inhabit it 🙂

Over the course of my life I have had the privilege of volunteering for causes that are important to me. When I was younger I raised money for UNICEF, to benefit refugee children for a few years, working with my parents, and later with a number of my friends to raise money and awareness for the world’s refugee children. Later I spent time volunteering at shelters and charity events.

As I get older I realize that humanity’s problems are bigger and more serious than I could grasp as a child. One of the biggest, in my opinion, is the threat to the environment because it impacts everyone and everything. There is a lot of dissension about the causes and solutions for climate change, but no matter which side of this exchange one might be, we can all agree that habitat destruction has a very negative impact on not just humans, but all the fauna and flora of the world. Conversely, there is no argument that planting more trees - especially in areas that have been stripped of them - has numerous benefits.

So, what if every one of us planted a tree? That would be billions of them. But what if we did that more often? Like once a year? Just one each year. Imagine the total number then. Imagine the benefits. That was the start of the idea of the ‘One Tree Rule’: to plant a tree for each year we’ve been on this planet, to give back to it for all that it gives us.

And that’s where you come in. You don’t have to do any of the work. We’ve done everything for you. We have reliable partners who will plant the trees in your name for just a dollar per tree. So please join us in helping…
